hilary's music: janelle monae

During the interview we did earlier this week with Hilary Jones - the director of girls rock! rhode island - she mentioned an artist she thinks truly expresses her unique self through pop music - Janelle Monae.

Between her amazing dance moves ... her fantastic hair ... her gorgeous suits ... not to mention, her beautiful voice -- we can see a lot of personality and a lot of expression. And we like it. We like it a lot.

Janelle's original plan was to pursue a career on Broadway - but she changed her mind and returned to music, because according to her - music is an art form that has the potential to change the world.

We're a little in awe.
